From Hubris to Sophisticated Passions

From Hubris to Sophisticated Passions

Liam Sy Paquemar

Introducing, French artist Liam Sy Paquemar a participant in the Mana Performance Residencies program who has developed a sculptural installation and performative work in collaboration with his father, a dancer and choreographer.

A Performance

Paquemar’s project explores classical heritage and the masculine hold on our aesthetic and psychological perceptions. Eschewing the primacy of style, the artist instead defines a transition from natural to cultural states, rendering a complex history within which viewers may create their own own mythologies.

Paquemar’s work has been shown throughout France at venues including La Nuit Blanche, Paris, and the Abattoirs de Toulouse. He studied at the Beaux-Arts, Paris, as part of the Erasmus + program, and graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art, London.
